How to sign up and use Google Apps

Here is the complete guide to using Google Apps with your hosting service. It may look long but I have included very basic steps so anyone can follow.

Go to http://www.google.com/a/cpanel/domain/new

Select Administrator and enter your domain without www.
Enter your info and setup your account.

To activate Google Apps services you must verify that you own your domain.
Click Verify domain ownership.
Verify your domain ownership by selecting "Upload an HTML File".

Copy the file name and code (example: googlehostedservice.html and googleec9999999aaa9a99).

Login into your cPanel.
Go to File Manager then select Web Root (public_html/www).
Up the top click New File and call it the file name Google Apps panel specified (example: googlehostedservice.html).
Right click on the file and select Edit.
Paste the code in the large empty text area (example: googleec9999999aaa9a99).
Click Save Changes, close the File Manager and go back into your cPanel.

Under Mail click MX Entry. A list of your current MX records will appear.
Delete all previous records first.
When adding the new records leave the checkbox unticked so that you don't except mail locally.
Add the following one at a time by clicking Change after entering the info.

Change MX for "yourdomain.com" Priority: 10 to: aspmx.l.google.com.
Change MX for "yourdomain.com" Priority: 20 to: alt1.aspmx.l.google.com.
Change MX for "yourdomain.com" Priority: 30 to: alt2.aspmx.l.google.com.
Change MX for "yourdomain.com" Priority: 40 to: aspmx2.googlemail.com.
Change MX for "yourdomain.com" Priority: 50 to: aspmx3.googlemail.com.

Now go back to cPanel home and under Mail click Email Authentication.
Enable SPF and add the following to the Include List (INCLUDE).

google.com
googlemail.com
gmail.com

You are now done and have to wait for Google Apps to verify your domain. It can take up to 48 hours.

From here you can add email accounts by adding users here: https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com/Users
And access email here: https://mail.google.com/a/yourdomain.com/

Be sure to replace the "yourdomain.com" in the url with your actual domain without the www.

The interface is exactly the same as gmail. In the Settings up the top (when you login into email) you can enable POP3 and IMAP if you wish. To access SMTP, POP3 or IMAP the settings for them are:

Host: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 25 or 465 (for SSL) and 587 (for TLS)

Host: pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995

Host: imap.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 993

Username: Your full email address including @yourdomain.com (example: username@yourdomain.com)
Password: Your password
